Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Defender Intel, LLC ("Defender Intel," "we," "our," or "us") operates the website at defenderintel.com and related subdomains, the Protector mobile app, and the Defender drone security service (together, the "Service"). This policy explains how we handle information collected through the Service.

2. What we collect

On our website

• Contact form submissions — name, work email, organization, inquiry type, and message content you voluntarily provide.
• Usage data — anonymized page views and interaction events if analytics are enabled (see Section 8).
• Server logs — standard web server logs including IP address, browser type, and referring URL, retained for up to 30 days.

In the Protector app and the Defender service

• Account information — your name, email address, phone number if you add one, the organization you belong to, and your role in it.
• Your location, while the app is open — when you are on one of your organization's properties, the app sends your precise location so you appear on the property map and your Defender system can tell you from an intruder.
• Arrivals and departures, if you turn on Auto home/away — this is optional and off by default. When you turn it on in Account › Security and allow location "Always", your phone tells us when you cross the edge of your property, arriving or leaving, even when the app is closed. Your phone checks only at the property's edge; we do not track your location continuously in the background. You can turn it off at any time.
• Property information — addresses, boundaries, and the Defender devices you add, and any ownership documents you upload so we can confirm you may protect a property.
• Identity verification — if you verify your identity, Stripe Identity checks your ID. We receive the result and your verified name, not images of your ID.
• Security activity — alerts, flights, and the images and video your Defender system captures on your property, kept for your organization.
• Subscription — your plan and its status. Payments are made on our website and handled by Stripe; we never receive your full card number.

The app uses your camera only to read the code on a Defender box, and Face ID only through your phone; we receive no picture from the scan and no biometric data. We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising trackers, and the app contains no advertising or analytics SDK.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the Service: show your property and alerts, run your Defender system, and tell your system who is at home.
• To respond to your inquiry and schedule demos, pilots, or scoped conversations.
• To manage your subscription and send account and security emails.
• To improve the Service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for automated profiling or decision-making that produces legal or significant effects.

4. Who can see it

The active members of your organization can see each other's name, whether each member is home or away, and, while a member is on the property with the app open, where they are on the property map. When someone leaves your organization, they stop seeing this, and you stop seeing theirs. Defender Intel staff can see account and property information when they need to, for example to review ownership documents or to help you with your account.

5. Retention

• Contact form data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil your request and for a reasonable follow-up period, typically no longer than 24 months.
• Locations and arrival and departure events are kept for 30 days. A location is deleted as soon as you leave the property.
• Account and property information is kept while your account exists.
• Records we must keep by law, such as invoices and store orders (including the name, email, and shipping address on them), are kept for as long as the law requires, even after you delete your account.

6. Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the Protector app, under Account › Delete account, or by emailing us at the address below. When you do, we delete your personal information straight away, including your locations, arrivals and departures, your identity verification (we also ask Stripe to erase the document and selfie it holds), and your sign-in, and our payment provider deletes your saved payment details once nothing you pay for is still running. If you are the only member of your organization, its subscription is cancelled at the same time, with no refund, and the organization's properties, documents, devices, and security activity are deleted 30 days later. If your organization has other members, you will first need to make another member an owner; property ownership documents you uploaded stay with the organization, as part of its records, until it is deleted. Records we must keep by law, such as invoices and store orders, are kept as described above.

7. Third-party services

We use these providers to run the Service. Each handles your information only to provide its service to us:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, storage, and sign-in (Amazon Cognito).
• Stripe — payments and identity verification.
• HubSpot — contact form submissions.
• Apple Maps and Google Maps — the maps shown in the app.

The website may also link to third-party services (e.g., LinkedIn). Those services are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their data practices.

8. Analytics

If site analytics are enabled, we use a privacy-respecting analytics provider configured to anonymize IP addresses and not share data with third-party advertisers. No cookies are set without your consent where required by applicable law. The Protector app does not use analytics.

9. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
